10.12-11 The Nobel Prize Award 2011 The festivities have been going on for a week prior to the Day of December 10th.The Laureates have visited the Swedish Academy of Natural Sciences, The University of Stockholm and the University of Uppsala, giving lectures to students and others. At 16 hours sharp, the festivities and rewards start at the Stockholm Opera House. All laureates are seated in a half circle on stage and the Royal Family sits to the right.The Swedish King is the one distributing the diplomas and the gold medals on stage. The ceremony is interluded by classical music, this year by Hugo Alfve'n and Frantz Schubert among others. The peak of the excuisite ceremony i was , at least for us Swedes, the awarding of The Prize of Literature, this year given to Tomas Tranströmer.His arrival, in a wheelchair, conducted by a unknown Swedish scientist, represents both a worldknown author and aphorist, but he also represents the group of people who were stricken by stroke, with a restriction of movement and intellectual contribution. .As Tranströmer came to collect his prize, it was very sentimental moment. The applauding was very long and the King held Tranströmer's hand for a long time.Later, the orchestra played Tranströmer's favourite peace of music; Frantz Schubert's "Intermediary Music of Rosamunda". It was also declared, the Tomas was declared Honorary Professor at Stockholm University. , The starting of the appointment of the Literature Prize, was a speech by a man from the Swedish Academy of Literature, who presented Tranströmer's world of works, referring to fine poems and aphorisms. It was 37 years since Sweden was awarded the prize of literature,then, in 1974, it was awarded to Eyvind Johnsson/ Wilhelm Moberg.
